A Romantic Engagement Session at Yosemite with a Rowboat | Taylor and Canyon

Taylor and Canyon have been together since high school. She is driven, motivated, and bubbly. He is more of a strong and silent type. They work very well together as a team. I suggested Yosemite National Park as the engagement session location because Canyon proposed to Taylor there. So naturally it’s more special and personal to them. I checked the weather several days before the shoot and the forecast is suppose to be raining the whole week. I am not going to lie, I was a bit nervous because most of my film equipment is not weather sealed. But, I was fully prepared to get the photos I needed for Taylor and Canyon. I had clear umbrellas, camera rain gear, rain boots, and waterproof clothing all packed up for an epic adventure along with my rowboat. I towed my rowboat all the way from Big Bear to Yosemite, at 55mph the entire time. That alone was an adventure on its own.

I stayed at Sierra Sky Ranch the night before the shoot and was not aware that it is suppose to be haunted. I found that out as I was checking in. To my disappointment, I slept like a baby and did not see or hear anything. The ranch has been upgraded and remodeled several times, so the rooms are more modern than I was expecting. I find the ranch very cozy and charming.

I was not sure if it was because of the weather, or the season, but traffic inside the park was lighter than expected. The parking lot in Curry Village was half empty (or half full). I was not complaining at all since it’s always a pain to find parking while towing a trailer. I had the entire route planned out for Taylor and Canyon engagement session in Yosemite. We met up in front of Curry Village, then stopped by Yosemite Fall, the Tunnel View, then Glacier Point, then Upper Yosemite Fall, then Curry Village, then Stoneman Bridge.

The weather turned out to be perfect, a bit cool but tolerable and the clouds made for some amazing lighting. Below are some of my favorite photos from Taylor and Canyon’s engagement session at Yosemite with my rowboat. It was shot in both digital and film (analog). I can’t wait for Taylor and Canyon’s wedding at Skypark Weddings.
